Checking In: Four Seasons Resort Anguilla

Anguilla – the island of your dreams! With white sands and turquoise waters, it’s a true paradise in the Caribbean, and one of the dreamiest places I’ve ever been lucky enough to travel to. During our stay on Anguilla, we spent three nights at the incredible Four Seasons Resort Anguilla. The resort quickly climbed the ranks of favorite properties I’ve ever stayed at, and I think the photos below are pretty self-explanatory on why.

Food and Dining at Four Seasons Anguilla

First off, the food. We had the opportunity to try three of the dining options onsite at the Four Seasons. For breakfast, there is a wonderful buffet at SALT, with views overlooking the ocean making it the perfect way to start your day. We also had a chance to eat at SALT for some Caribbean fine dining. You’ll find entrees there such as mahi-mahi, corvina, and lobster, as well as jerk chicken and rib-eye steak. Make sure to start with the locally caught crayfish tails as well!

Other dining options we tried included the Sunset Lounge and the Bamboo Bar and Grill. The Bamboo Bar and Grill is located next to the family-friendly pool and Meads Bay, and on Wednesdays and Sundays they offer a fresh catch on the grill for lunch, so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. If you’re spending the afternoon over on Barnes Bay Beach, you can also grab a cocktail and light lunch at Half Shell Beach Bar.

The Pools and Beaches at Four Seasons Anguilla

There are two beach options at the hotel – Barnes Bay Beach and Meads Bay. Barnes Bay Beach is the more secluded and tranquil option, and on days with stronger surf, it has more protection than the other beach in the form of small manmade coves. On the other side of the resort, you’ll find Meads Bay, a long stretch of white sand and blue water. You’ll also find dining and bars if you walk down the beach, like the famous Blanchards. Of the 33 pristine white-sand beaches on the island, Meads Bay and Barnes Bay Beach are definitely some of Anguilla’s best beaches.

If you prefer to hang by the pool instead of the ocean, there are three pools to choose from: the Sunset Pool, Aleta Pool, and Bamboo Pool. The most photogenic of the three has to be the aptly-named Sunset Pool right by the lobby and Sunset Lounge as you walk into the resort. This is the best place to watch the sunset from – the golden light reflects beautifully off of the infinity-edge pool, and it’s just magical. The Bamboo Pool is the family-friendly option at the resort and located conveniently right next to Meads Bay so you can quickly hop between the beach and the pool. Last but not least there’s the Aleta Pool, the most architecturally stunning of the three. Here you’ll find pool cabanas you can rent for the day, and palm trees providing plenty of shade while in the water.

The Spa at Four Seasons Anguilla

There’s also a fourth pool option – the spa pool. If you choose to get a spa treatment during your stay, the spa has a beautiful little infinity pool overlooking the ocean where you can spend some time relaxing. I opted to get a 50-minute Blue Tranquility massage during my time at the spa, and it was the perfect way to unwind and relax. Also don’t miss out on the hanging bed next to the pool at the spa – it’s the perfect spot to lay back and read a book before or after your treatment.

Getting There

Thankfully, it’s not as hard to get to Anguilla and the resort as one might think. The easiest way, coming from the U.S., is to book a flight into St. Maarten. From there, the ferry terminal to Anguilla is literally right across the street from the airport (you could easily walk there), and you can grab a 30-minute speedboat ride over to Anguilla. We rode over with Funtime. And then it’s just a quick 10-15 minute cab ride from the ferry terminal to the Four Seasons Anguilla!

If you’re coming from the Four Seasons Nevis as we did on our trip, the easiest way is to fly directly on a small propeller plane from Nevis to Anguilla (or vice versa, depending on your trip itinerary). We flew on TransAnguilla, which was only about $110 per person and was a very scenic flight. Do note though, our plane was only an 8-seater, and because of the size, had tight luggage limits. So make sure to pack accordingly and be in line with your airline’s checked luggage and carry-on limits if you’re taking a small plane between islands!

Overall, my stay at Four Seasons Anguilla was amazing, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a luxury beach getaway. And if you really want to treat yourself, book a beachfront villa with its own infinity pool!
